Chief of Staff, Virginia Tech
Charity Boyette joined Virginia Tech’s Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance as its Chief of Staff in September 2018. Prior to moving to the Blacksburg area, she was a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State for nine years, with overseas tours in Nigeria, Poland, and Belgium, as well as service on the staff of Secretary of State John Kerry and as the Executive Director of the U.S.-Pakistan Women’s Council at American University. Charity spent a decade in operations and finance with a large U.S. defense contractor before joining the Foreign Service. A Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), she holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Averett University and a master’s degree in business, with concentrations in strategy and business development, from the College of William & Mary. Charity is married to a proud Hokie alumnus, with whom she has two daughters.
