Chief Compliance Officer

Suzanne Griffin is the inaugural Chief Compliance Officer at Virginia Tech.  Suzanne joined the office in 2022.  Under the oversight of the Vice President of Audit, Risk, and Compliance, she is responsible for leading the university’s institutional compliance program and coordination of the distributed processes that support university-wide compliance.  

Suzanne’s career, primarily focused in the agri-business and banking industries, includes over 25 years of in-house legal, executive leadership, and management experience including domestic and international matters.  Most recently, she served as a member of the executive leadership team of a major branded poultry processing company as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer, with responsibility for the company’s legal affairs, workplace safety, health, environmental, sustainability, and corporate governance.  Over the years, she has presented at various legal and industry conferences and served on boards for civic, educational, and charitable organizations. 

Suzanne is a certified compliance and ethics professional, holds a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois, has a juris doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law.  She was admitted to the Virginia bar in 2023. In addition, she was previously admitted to the bars of Illinois, Colorado, and North Carolina and maintains inactive status in each.
