Amanda G. Skaggs, CIA, CPA, CRMA

Director of Internal Audit

Amanda Skaggs is the Director of Internal Audit at Virginia Tech. Amanda joined the office in 2025. Reporting to the Chief Audit Executive, Amanda oversees the university’s internal audit function in completing its annual audit plan; conducting fraud, waste and abuse reviews; and other advisory services that provide insight and advice to university leadership.

Amanda completed her Bachelor of Science in Finance with a minor in Leadership at Virginia Tech. She is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, and is Certified in Risk Management Assurance. After graduating from Virginia Tech, she began her career with the Auditor of Public Accounts for the Commonwealth of Virginia, Assistant to the Controller and Special Projects Manager at Virginia Tech, before beginning progressively more responsible roles at Old Dominion University where she recently was the Associate Vice President for Compliance and Chief Audit Executive.

Amanda is active in the profession both nationally through the Association of College and University Auditors (ACUA) and is known across the commonwealth through her involvement with the College and University Auditors of Virginia (CUAV). Amanda is also a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors where she serves through the Tidewater chapter.
